About

NGO Tripin or Stichting Tripin in Dutch is a NGO founded in 2005. Tripin was the first to implement non-formal eduaction in the city of Almere, The Netherlands. Twenty minutes by train from our Capital city Amsterdam. Almere is one of the youngest cities with almost 200.000 inhabitants and rapidly growing. After the land reclamation of the Southern IJsselmeerpolders, the construction of Almere started in 1975. Almere consists of several distinctive city districts, separated by large green areas. This remarkable urban design concept has led to a great variety of housing and business locations along the main roads, in the city centre, on the waterside or in the (by men planted) woods. The new town offers an ideal climate for working and living for many people and companies from the Randstad conurbation, which is bursting at the seams, and the rest of The Netherlands, thanks to its spacious layout and its greenbelt so rich in waters. In Almere of the total surface of 24,876 hectares 40% is agricultural land, woodlands, parks or nature reserve, making it a very green and blue city when compared with other large municipalities. Some three to four thousand new residents arrive each year. Thirty per cent of the inhabitants in Almere are under the age of twenty. In The Netherlands the average lies around 24 per cent. Which means that Almere has a relatively high population of young people. Speaking in national diversity, Almere is a colorful environment. With a variety of 152 nationalities and 175 ethnic groups, a big part of the world is well represented in our city. Tripin aims to develop high quality projects and works with alot of proffessional partners wich whom you can find at our partner page. At this moment of writing we have coordinate seven exchange projects and host six European Service Volunteers (EVS) with Stichting AAP, Stichting Kwintes and soon hopefully also some other NGO's.

The most projects implemented are funded by the Youth in Action program from the European Commission, our local municipality and regional/national funds. The organisation works in a getatable, accessible, pro-active and pragmatic way following the action by learning and learning by doing approach. Empowerment is achieved by the creation of unusual combinations of youngsters who learn together and work together. However Tripin has the goal to make the projects also available for people with less opportunities. Young people who were abused, have mental illnesses or have any kind of handicap. We think it is only fair if all young people get a chance to take part in the projects we organise. To see our projects in the near future have a look at the project page. For EVS we have a special section for hosting and sending. The priority for the National Agency, that implements the Youth in Action projects in all European member states, is to send people from The Netherlands to another country to do his or here EVS. If you are interested in such a opportunity don't hesitate to contact us. Convice yourself to see the experiences of other EVS volunteers, also the ones in Almere, on MyEVS, a WEBLOG for EVS volunteers all over the European continent. For pictures and small movies of our projects have a look under the the media section of our website.
